My favourite country to visit is Georgia, nestled in the South Caucasus and surrounded by mountains, the Black Sea and the countries of Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Nowhere is all that far from its capital city full of character, Tbilisi but some of the mountain settlements remain remarkably remote and can be inaccessible for parts of the year but that means they have retained their charm and culture and it can be like stepping back in time. There’s also the modern coastal resorts such as Batumi with a sub-tropical climate to the west, and the wine-growing region of Kakheti to the east, one of the oldest wine-regions in the world. I have so many fond memories of this stunning and diverse little country, not only the wine, chacha, food and stunning geography but the exceptional hospitality and kindess of the Georgian people. Sakartvelo and Georgians will be forever in my heart.
