It was about this time last year that we all learned of the terribly sad news of the loss of Andy Sacre, a truly beautiful and gentle soul whose spirit and enthusiasm touched and connected many people in the Norwich music community. There was much talk amongst musicians of their desire to do something to pay musical tribute to this lovely man who had given so much of himself to others, ever-willing to help as he was. People wanted to thank him in some way. Sean at The Owl Sanctuary kindly offered the use of their venue and even with music over two floors all the slots quickly filled up with artists and friends of Andy. Huge thanks to Barn of Kamensko for getting the idea off the ground and all the tireless work he put into making it happen, The Owl for hosting, Ryan, all the bands and artists taking part and all those who attended. Artists taking part included the amazing Wreck Age, a band I discovered in typical style, via Andy. Wreck Age split a while ago but got back together again one last time to honor him. Also playing upstairs were the powerful Kamensko, yet another act he introduced me to. Downstairs the night was started by Adrian Howes, a friend of Andy for whom he staged a benefit gig to replace Adrian’s smashed guitar a few years back. Also playing tonight were Of the Clay, Organisms, Bavarian Rocket Group, Robyn Astrid, and Mssr Mortimer.
