Having seen Yve only the night before at the Lord Rosebery it was good to see her again at the monthly Sound It Out session, held on the first Monday of every month at The Murderers. An informal cross between a jam and an open mic where any musicians in attendance are welcome to come onstage and play with the house musicians, The Delta Golden Angels including host Yve herself, Mark Boweevil Howes, Stewart Aitken et al.
It was a lovely evening with some classic covers including If I Were a Carpenter, and Can’t Find My Way Home. Wonderfully informal, relaxed and entertaining. A lovely vibe.
Heading back across the city afterwards a chap with a strong Lancashire accent asked us if we knew of any bars still serving, so we suggested the Ten Bells. He’d been involved with another gig in Norwich that night and was comparing Norwich and its love of music with Nashville, with everyone walking to and from gigs and talking about music, even so late on a damp and dismal Tuesday October night. It’s something many have remarked upon and hence the tag: Norwich – Music City UK.
