Very proud of all the musicians who took part in this event, Dave and Steve of Fine City Blues, Norwich Arts Centre, everyone involved in helping out and of course all who donated. Just over £2,000 was raised on the night and the winner of the signed Blur CD had their ticket drawn by Clive Lewis MP.
I was photographing elsewhere at the beginning of the evening but did catch very fine sets by The Dave Thomas Allstars, Dove and Boweevil, along with a whole host of special guests including Luke Wright, and the last few minutes by (I believe) The Shunters Blues Band.
Alongside Gareth Tucker, Dave Thomas performed a very moving song written on the day, I believe, especially for the occasion. Just a Drop in the Ocean.
A few days earlier I had the great pleasure of seeing Grifter Kid and the Midnight Raiders on their latest visit to Norwich. Playing beautifully as always though once again playing a venue with a PA that doesn’t really do them justice, and a room full of chatting diners wasn’t entirely conducive to appreciating a live music event, I am hoping they will get the city booking with the sound they so richly deserve. They are classy, smooth, witty and warm.
