The Dove and Boweevil Band, Tony Brook, at The Albatros, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk 7 August 2015
Wells is such a beautiful town on our wondrous North Norfolk coast. Everytime I come here I am struck by its charm and beauty.
Thanks to my friends Steve and Jan I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy my first experience of a gig on the superb Albatros ship, preceded of course by some of their delicious Dutch pancakes on the deck beforehand with a Woodforde’s Wherry from The Albatros’ own kitchen and bar.
Somehow or other Dove and Boweevil managed to get all their gear down the narrow steps and set up in the corner below deck and as a four piece tonight played a tight and hugely enjoyable set. The band have been very busy of late and have the tightness that comes with it but they also played with a relaxed joy and Boweevil was absolutely on fire. My current favourite, Lady Lavoo, was wonderful! Playing for around two hours the crowd were still begging for more songs after their encore. The small area was totally rammed and most were dancing throughout. It was a belter and so much fun. A place I definitely would like to return to.
Having heard Alabama’s Tony Brook for the first time the previous day it was a pleasant surprise to see him here too, and he also played a few numbers whilst Lauren had a short break. The crowd loved him as well.
Many thanks to Dove and Boweevil, The Albatros, Yve Mary B, and Steve & Jan.
