It’s such an incredible time for the city of Norwich … This weekend saw the close of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, the opening of the City of Ale Festival, Radio One’s Big Weekend in Earlham Park which featured the likes of Snoop Dogg (in a Norwich shirt!), The Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, and on the Introducing stage, local favourites Kill It Kid, and Port Isla. To cap a mighty weekend on Bank Holiday Monday Norwich City were taking on Middlesbrough in the Play Off Final at Wembley following a two-legged victory over Ipswich.
About 40,000 Norwich fans made the trip down to London making one half of Wembley Stadium a noisy sea of green and yellow. This was my first visit to the new stadium and I was more impressed that I expected to be, the views are good, it’s comfortable and much cleaner and fit for purpose than the old stadium in visited in 1985.
All the Boro fans I met were friendly and there was a good spirit, of course the atmosphere in the Norwich end got even better when City scored to early first half goals to secure a 2-0 victory and regain a place in the Premier League. A massive well done to the team and especially to Alex Neil who has done what appeared impossible midway through the season. He has written himself into Norwich folklore within a matter a months. What a way to cap off an amazing few days, this was the perfect day. Incredible.
