Bo Nanafana’s Valentine’s Weekend Special – “Shotgun Wedding” at The Talk, Norwich, 14 February 2015
The Talk was bedecked in magnificent Western style for this themed Valentine celebration with the rooms soon filling up with pistol poppin’ papas, pregnant brides and cowboys, cowgirls and Bonnie & Clydes. There was even a rector at the wedding chapel photobooth, on-site pizzas, old style casinos, DJs galore and of course live music from the perfectly chosen Vagaband and the inspired decision to have Dumbfoundus, with regulars like Greg’s Greats of the Shellac Collective, Swing City dance class, and compere for the night Paul Mills introducing the music, best dressed winners and the comedy and caberet acts. So much entertainment packed into six hours of top music and visual treats.
The Vagaband played two sets in the main room and were there usual joyous selves, sounding punchy and full. We even had the rare sights of Jose unrestrained by guitar leaping and dancing about the stage for one or two numbers, that was great to see! They obviously were having as much fun as the dancers on the floor.
Live music in the smaller room came from Dumbfoundus who were just so much fun and went down an absolute storm with well chosen covers of Jolene, I wanna be like you, Killing Me Softly, Ganja Smuggling, as well as plenty of their own numbers too. Fantastic stuff and the Bo crowd loved them. This room was also where Greg Butler kept the swing dancers delighted with his always impeccable selections.
Many thanks to all the many people involved in making Bo Nanafana what it is.
