The Tilting Sky presents The Thinking Men, Secret From Richard, Rory Hill and the Honeymoon, Matt Selfe at Norwich Arts Centre, 11 July 2014
The day after the storming Rainbow Girls gig at the Arts Centre I returned to the same venue for Craig Fraser Hill’s Tilting Sky four band extravaganza. Starting off with Matt Selfe, formerly of The Loyal Few and actually performing solo but playing guitar and with accompanying beats from his laptop. A good voice and very atmospheric, chiming guitar work.
I was keen and interested to hear the next act, the debut performance from Rory Hill and the Honeymoon. Rory is a great lyricist and with a unique voice, the band performing together here for the first time also featured Lydia on backing vocals. Some fascinating songs.
Secret From Richard came storming out of the blocks and played a fast uptempo, guitar driven set with huge energy and enthusiasm, possibly making the biggest impression of the night with their brand of indie rock.

Secret From Richard
With a grand backdrop of a grainy projection intro, coming onto the stage for their first NAC headline The Thinking Men also started strongly, in fact they started the set with their anthemic Piep Piper, probably their best known song, coming on like Tom Waits meets the Bad Seeds. They have a strong image, play the songs well and are a band who must be good to market, they are clearly a band with ambition, drive and are a package who could do well. Hard working and professional act.
