Liberation Sounds @ Kings, Norwich, with Tallowah, The Piratones, Jack Pout + more, 23 November 2013. Photos
Somehow I was unaware of this happening until the last moment when I was luckily informed about it (Thanks Holly! 🙂 ) a Liberation Sounds presentation at Kings – my first time at this venue.
Opening the night was a solo Jack Pout at around 7pm, in a somewhat incongruous pairing of artist and gig but undeterred Jack battled bravely on with his brand of folk at this reggae/hip-hop gig and definitely won respect and attention.
Following Jack was an hour or two of open mic hip-hop before the wonderful and constantly improving Piratones took stage for a very happy, lively and much-enjoyed set, despite the absence of Mikey (in Brighton with Solko). The audience went wild for them, bouncing around and the smiles in the audience were only matched by the smiles of the band – a band I love very much.
Southend-based Tallowah are regular visitors to Norfolk and much loved here. Their set tonight was a stormer, I could not believe how so many people fitted onto the dance area and the place was literally bouncing in a superb set.
All in all a superb night of music, hot, sweaty, packed and jumping – a good sound in this venue too, if it can just add a better selection of beers it will be even better but I think this was generally a rum and coke night anyway!
We are delighted to divulge a delicious and decadent evening of music and skanking in our new home at Kings on King Street. This is the launch of a brand new adventure into sight and sound for Norwich nightlife. Blending a rogues gallery of artists, musicians, DJs and performances we are proud to present Liberation Sounds. Giving a taste of summer to the dreary dismal winter that draws in upon us.
Unhinge yourself from normality and let your inhabitations go. Be free, we wild, be savage…..
