Harlequin Fayre, Norfolk 9th – 11th August 2013

Harlequin Fayre, Norfolk, 9,10,11 August 2013

What a beautiful little Festival this is, special, friendly, clean and with a safe and welcoming atmosphere, I now understand why so much of it was shrouded in secrecy and mystery, from its location to the line up. This is a very special event and it would be such a shame for it to become spoiled. Totally non-corporate and extremely environmentally-friendly, I did not see any litter at all and by Tuesday it had been restored to its pristine condition in this beautiful setting.

Bands included Congo Faith Healers, The Vagaband, Tallowah, Gadjo, Feral Mouth, Dumbfoundus, Andy Kirkham, Chad Mason, Das Fenster & the Alibis, Woodland Creatures and many, many more. But it was not just about the music, with so much more going on – which included a kids area with its own circus, a healing area, workshops, stalls and a speaker tent. I loved this event and have so many wonderful memories – I think I had a smile on my face the whole time and genuinely did not want to return to the over-stimulating commercialism of everyday life with its stresses, blanket news coverage and television, noise etc. I can see why that lovely couple decided to have their wedding reception at the Fayre – congratulations to them! 🙂

Too many highlights to list them all, but musically I especially enjoyed The Vagaband, Birds of Hell, Tallowah, and an amazing impromptu 45min jam with Ash Woolnough and a large selection of musicians for a fantastic dub improvisation with Mikey on the sound desk.

Here is a selection of photos, I shall add more in due course …
