Opening the evening tonight were Addison’s Uncle (minus fiddle player Georgia but featuring the tireless James Maas on uke). I’ve seen them quite a few times just recently and it was good to hear them in a venue like this. I especially enjoyed the final two or three songs which included Norman Wood and Gypsy. The lyrics, songs and playing are very clever.

The Handlebar audience seemed to include a very large number of Norwich musicians, which I think is testament to the playing skills of Serious Sam Barrett who was on next. Hailing from Leeds he plays a superb blend of blues, country, bluegrass and Americana with a wonderfully English twist and he has an excellent voice. I believe he is a long time acquaintance of the Feral boys, who have invited him down here a few times before and I hope this will continue, I’d like to hear him again.

The Bike Shop seemed incredibly dark tonight, to my tired eyes, but Feral Mouth performed a great treat for the ears with another storming, lively set, the newer numbers rapidly becoming some of my set favourites.

Inevitably, with so many musicians present there was a lovely moment of some jams and new song previews in the mellow post-gig mood, which was a privilege to be a part of.
